Recently, an extremist group leveled dishonest attacks against UT Rep and ALC President Ken Ivory, in an effort to shut down legitimate debate concerning the Transfer of Public Lands. This week, UT Representative Kay Christofferson published a great op-ed in the Deseret News that puts this situation in its proper perspective.

Please look into the details for yourself and discover the revealing truth behind the actions of these political bullies.

It's amazing that many groups who propose to "save the environment" have convinced the public that the best thing for our forests is to leave them completely alone. Now, after years of following that advise, we are learning that, in fact, gardens are meant to be tended...and our nation's gardens are dying. 

In 2012, an excellent article by Robert H. Nelson was published by Policy Review, a publication of the Hoover Institution of Stanford University. This article clearly sets forth the predicament we find our public lands in, how it got here and what must be done to remedy this serious problem.

One of the greatest things about working for the American Lands Council is the amazing people we get to work with from all over the country. Hard working, honest, genuinely good people. But in this line of work, it also never ceases to amaze me how disingenuous some groups of people can be.

This past January, President Obama announced that his administration plans to lock up the oil-rich 1.5 million acre Arctic National Wildlife Refuge coastal plain and offshore areas in Alaska from oil and gas exploration, despite widespread Native Alaskan support for drilling in the area. ANWR's coastal plain alone is estimated to hold 28 billion barrels of oil.

We want to make you aware of an effort by Utah Reps. Stewart and Bishop to help further the Transfer of Public Lands. We will keep you informed as to the progress of this group and their efforts.

Recently, Utah Senator Mike Lee uploaded a video that explains why excessive federal land ownership is a bad idea for  ALL Americans, not just those in the West.
